Ping expresses sympathy to Republic of Congo

 Addis Ababa, March 5, 2012 (Ethiopia) - African Union Commission (AUC), Chairperson Jean Ping expresses his sympathy to the Republic of Congo, AU told ENA in a statement on Monday.

 

The chairperson has learnt with sadness the news of the explosions in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, on 4 March 2012, following the fire that broke out in an arms and ammunition depot.

 

According to AU, Ping has deplored the significant number of deaths and injuries caused by the explosions.

 

He expressed his heartfelt condolence to the bereaved families, the people and the Government of the Congo.

 

The Chairperson has called on the Member States and the international community to provide assistance to the Congolese Government.
